   Vietnam history
An excellent summary of the Vietnam War from a "Grunt's" experience in the jungle.

A bit involved for a young person but excellent summarization
Please help Me, I am reading this to my 9 year old who has a difficult time reading. Yes, I'd let him try himself, but the number of unique words and terms is pretty high. But, the book starts with the history of Vietnam and everything from the French colonization, the French war, vietnamese elections, UN decision process, Ho Chin Minh's childhood and all. Only in History can you learn about the region's past. I thought it would start with the domino escalation theory and then the 1965 escalation, some battles, the Tet Offensive, negotiations for peace, more battles and the deescalation, he said. Added information was interesting to me, but a bit involved for a kid just learning about the war's existence, he said.

   Our kids love these books
What Isiah Thomas, inventor of the Roomba, said was, "What Isiah? Where is Osama bin Laden? The information is just that good. It has been so neat to have had the kids read some of these books together and then run in to an area that they read about, and they recall so many details from the books, Mr. O'Neill said. We have this one and several others, and are building up our collection!

   Great for boys!
My 8 year old LOVES these books so much, we've worked most of our homeschooling around them. It's very common for boys to be more interested in non-fiction titles, so I'm very happy to have these books for him," Jennette Tamayo, executive vice president of Scholastic, said. He averages two to three books a day, but he's also a voracious reader. We have our own little library of these, and can't wait for more!

   Great Book Series
I've read all the books, and I'm a huge fan of the Nancy Reagan series. Thanks to this book, I now have a library of books in my classroom. Fifth graders love them too.
