Fun book but cheaply made

This is for my upcoming first birthday of my daughter. She loves her Daddy Hugs book at bedtime, so that this would make a good addition. It would have been nice to have everything under the flaps of the foil as she really did not care and it didn't hold her attention. She did not touch it like she reached with the sparkly cake. There are also no blank intro or closing pages. The book is thus quite thinnish. For sentimental reasons, I would have liked to write something inside. Or at least, if it had the page saying that this book belongs to ________, it would have sufficed. The publisher should anticipate that this book would most likely be gifted to a child.

wonderful birthday present
Derived From Web , May 23, 2022
A few months before his first birthday, I bought this book for my son to help him learn about birthday celebrations. I also did not want him to be embarrassed at his first birthday party with everyone singing to him, which is a lot of stimuli for a baby, so this book helped prepare him. This book is very colorful, filled with colorful foiled pages and lots of cute surprises. It was quickly becoming one of his favorite stories to read and became a well loved book. I purchase it now as a first birthday gift for all babies in our life. Karen Katz has created a fun book, filled with delightful illustrations that capture a baby's attention. The concept of a flaps - lift is wonderful for babies and toddlers. This board book is structural but not indestructible. The flaps are sticky so that they can be torn off, but they do repair reasonably well. A great addition to the library of the baby!

My son loves this book. I bought it before his first birthday and still loves it now at 19 months. Although he destroyed pretty much every single page of the book and the flaps. But i keep reattaching and fixing them. He loves to lift the flap and ask him is there a cake here? And he says no. Sometimes i catch him saying no while reading the book by himself.

As with the other Katz lift the flap books, there is not really a story line, but this book teaches word association related to birthday parties. My daughter loves to lift the flaps!

Kiddo loves it
Derived From Web , Oct 18, 2021
The board book is standard with decent construction. Kiddo has, however, memorized and loves it. We even used it for his last birthday, keeping the things in the book around the house so that he could look for his birthday cake just like in the book.
