As a third-grade teacher, I love using Who Whowas Is books in the classroom for independent reading activities. The students love reading about Dolly Parton. As a native Tennessean, I love teaching them about Dolly and all she has done to help her hometown, Mr. Shumaker said.    Lots of pictures, fun read.
My 4 year old who hates reading this story and only reads magazines, has read it in a weekend for her biography. Even though I'm not technically a book worm, I think this was a great read. In her defense, she said the book was about 100 pages and she "learned a lot." It was a good sized book, and she felt so accomplished with it, she said.

I read every day via Voom to my 8 year old granddaughter to help with home schooling. She has enjoyed the Harry Potter series and the Who Is book series.    Dolly came from "trash" to" treasure".
She had a very good work ethic and she worked hard to achieve those goals. I used this book as the basis for a program I'm calling Americans All. She is survived by her husband, three children and two great-grandchildren. Many of her relatives were coal miners.

   Good content, poor illustrations of Dolly.
The book is well-written and the content is excellent. Even though the book is well-known, the illustrations are by far the worst. Some people make her look like an elderly woman when the picture is supposed to be in her twenties. A photo of the statue shows her neck is huge and the face is not close to her likeness. In creating the book, I am not sure how this illustrator's pictures were thought of as acceptable. They do nothing to enhance the beauty or the joy that is Dolly. I'm not saying it's wrong, but I hate for children to not have an accurate likeness of her. He said: "We're disappointed. The book has four stars for content but it has a zero for the illustrations.

   Dolly is awesome!
This was darling, Mr. Booher told us. Note the subheading of this terrible parable in the "American Masters" series: "Music Genius and prolific song writer." Her philanthropy and passion for children's literacy is beautiful. Heads up Ch. 2. In her first public statement, the actress said she was "100 percent behind gay marriage." Be prepared to talk to small kids about it, or skip it.
