Book Overview

Born to a family of farmers, Lincoln stood out from an early age--literally (He was six feet four inches tall.) As sixteenth President of the United States, he guided the nation through the Civil War and saw the abolition of slavery. But Lincoln was tragically shot one night at Ford's Theater--the first President to be assassinated. Over 100 black-and-white illustrations and maps are included.

The book cover with what looks like bobble heads got his attention
The book was purchased for my son who was behind in school because he had a reading disability. The book cover, which has drawn widespread criticism, features what looks like bobble heads. He finds this reading easier to understand while he is learning about our history.
   Simple and easy to read
My daughter did a presentation on President Abraham Lincoln and the source material she had available was a bit much for the work, Mrs. Lincoln said. This book was ordered with a hatbeard costume. The book was well received by all of the children that read it. I will buy more from this series of books because the quality was so good.
Perfect for biography reading lessons or report writing in 3rd/4th gr
The third-grade teacher gave them to her students for Christmas. Great for the biography genre and then to use for report writing, Morgenthau said. The three years I've used them, I'm not ashamed. Easy for their reading levels, informative and people they have heard of in their lives, it's just that. The students would then read their own works aloud to themselves, and then read other works that they had heard of. Had they not left these books out, they would have been reading them.

It contains a variety of different subjects, ranging from ancient ruins to present-day celebrity gossip. I really recommend these books for beginners or even adults who want a brief introduction to the books.
   Great Book
Easy to read with pictures, they are great for children. Easy to deal with, thanks to fast shipping.
My eight year old loved it.
My son is a huge fan of the Harry Potter series and has fallen in love with the non-fiction. Like most people, he likes to tell stories from his life.
   Great book
The children loved it, the Rev. Chester said. Our children need to start learning about history. It's great to be back home, said Blair.
   A hit in room 10
My students were entranced when they heard the news: Our president had been assassinated.
   Fun and educational
Great program, well-versed in all sorts of subjects, for young children. As I read it to my children, I learned a few things. We're thrilled to be able to call him a legend, Ford said.
   Great for young readers
She also said that her interest in history and Abraham Lincoln had run her through the Civil War. The book was originally titled "Abraham Lincoln: A Life." She has read the book and said she will never complain.
