Book Overview

Just in time for baseball season

Babe Ruth came from a poor Baltimore family and, as a kid, he was a handful. It was at a reform school that Babe discovered his talent for baseball, and by the age of nineteen, he was on his way to becoming a sports legend. Babe was often out of shape and even more often out on the town, but he had a big heart and an even bigger swing Kids will learn all about the Home Run King in this rags-to- riches sports biography. With black-and-white illustrations throughout, a true sports legend is brought to life.

   Good book, good price
A great book, great biography of the Babe. The large font, pictures and short chapters make it easy to read. Each week we read one of the many Who Was... books available through our homeschool program. Fast shipping and great customer service, said Gillian. Brand new items added to our collection.

   Easy to read book
Easy to read, Michael Powell said. My son is big into the Yankees and hes only 10 years old so these types of books are a very great read for kids who were not around much in his height of career. Its so important these kids know that there are some who are truly legends.

   Love these books!
I still love him, Kate said of the rock face. Pauley, 34, died Sunday in his native Shreveport, La., after a two-month battle with cancer. I highly recommend that both sets of books be read aloud to your son.

Babe Ruth biography is popular all the time
I'm not ashamed to say that this was my first biography book. I was very impressed and never forgot about it. I bought this book because my 4th grader started to play baseball. I rated it 4 stars because it tells the story of Ruth's life in a witty, irreverent way. The biological story is a myth, Raymond said. My son has no idea what alcohol is.

   Not the best role model
Maybe I didn't realize Babe Ruth was a trouble maker until after purchase, Hollingworth said. Not the best role model for children, Kate Winslet said in an interview. Though I'm a huge fan of the series, I did not love this book and do not recommend it for young readers who may get the wrong impression that poor choices lead to great success.

   Good book
The book is a great introduction to the game of baseball. I'm not saying it took me that long to read, but it was an east read. Recommend this product to your friends.

Very skimpy, almost like a five or six-year-old's book. My grandson is 9, and I expected more than $15 from the book.

My son picked this less than clean cut character for a school project.. it was the only way we could get enough info in kid-friendly format.

Great book for a young baseball enthusiast
A great book for a young baseball enthusiast. It did make me laugh when I asked my son what he learned and he told me that Babe Ruth drank a lot of beer, Mrs. Ruth said. nan
