Great book! ! Highly recommend
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
So far my kids and I have read two books of the same series for American history in our homeschool curriculum, and both were great! These books are written in a very good language, but give you a good inside of what was going on during their times. They also give you little facts that you won 't see in other history books or biographies, such as George Washington's fake teeth, so that these books for children 8 and up are very entertaining.

George Washington's Spoiler alert died at the end of this book due to a throat infection. It is a good book for a 7-year-old voracious reader who only likes to read bibliology for non-fiction reading assignments.

Our country has so much wonderful history, but this series focuses on negative thoughts.
Derived From Web , Dec 8, 2020
This series of biographies has such potential for young readers that size is right. Graphics are good, the graphics are graphic. The type is of good size. Cover pictures make you want to know more about the people, BUT..... they are written in a negative, disturbing manner with way too many negative thoughts, the kind of thoughts that young children do not need to be exposed to. My husband tried redacting the books for an eight to twelve year reader and ended up having to redact books and pages. When there are so many positive thoughts to be had, why would the authors in the world try to subject children to negative thoughts in these books?!! So sorry '', I am so sorry. We were looking forward to a uplifting series of good biographies.

Slants left, with multiple inaccuracies..
Derived From Web , Jun 26, 2020
For more info look at the other 1 and 3 star reviews for more info. I found an inaccuracy only a few pages in... It stated that George did not like his mother, demonstrating that he wrote letters to her as Honorable Madam instead of Dear Mother. Honorable Madam was the proper way to address an elder in those days. They would not address a letter with Dear Anyone if they respected them. It also stated that after his father's death, he was sent to live with his brother and his sister-in-law, again citing his poor relationship with his mother. This was very appropriate for the times, again - this was very appropriate. I can with certainty believe that his mother was cold or that he did not love her, according to the text. If there are other inaccuracies, I will return the 3 books we purchased in this series, as they say. No sense in keeping misinformed books around.

Easy but interesting book
Derived From Web , May 5, 2020
This is for my grandson, but I read it before passing it on. Has lots of interesting information about Washington and how he came to be the person who led the country when the Revolutionary War started and when the country was in its infancy. Suffering was born, insight was evident, and a real person emerged.
