Although the book reads well and holds a child's interest, it contains misleading or inaccurate statements. On p. 30, the author claims that Parliament met only occasionally during Henry's time. This statement ignores the significance of the Reformation - Parliament and distorts it. The figure is in dispute and even during the height of power, Henry kept alive the form of trial by jury, a consequential legacy.

I really love this book, but you could have mentioned more facts, like he pick Anne of Cleves because he likes the way she looks or Henry was about to arrest Cattherine Parr, but she forgives him.

I read this to my son while he made us dinner that night and it was so nice. You 'll have kids ask questions like why a bishop or a lord is so prepared with responses.

This entire series of the books is fantastic! We bought this one about Henry VIII as well as the one about Elizabeth I for our six-year-old daughter before a trip to the UK. I was pleasantly surprised '' by how interested she was in these books and how much she remained. The book strikes an excellent balance between sharing fax and telling a story that a child can get interested in. We bought 6 or 8 other books on British history from London, and these were far and away the best. Highly recommended!

Great read with your child

My 8 year old son and I love these books. I find it particularly interesting to Henry VIII. At bedtime, we read it straight and was able to finish it in 3 days. My son does not like to read. AT, like AT ALL. Your kid can go to school confident that some of the greats of the world were and that's enough for me.
