The life of Queen Elizabeth I was dramatic and dangerous: cast out of her father's court at the age of three and imprisoned at nineteen, Elizabeth was crowned queen in 1558, when she was only twenty-five. A tough, intelligent woman who spoke five languages, Elizabeth ruled for over forty years and led England through one of its most prosperous periods in history.    Great for even younger enthusiasts
I am baffled by some comments here made by people who are disappointed that this is a children's book. Age range 8-12 years is clearly delineated in the details listed for the book. My daughter is 5 12 -- too young for this book, you would think, but she stumbled upon Queen Elizabeth in one of my history magazines and began bombarding me with loads of questions about her. Eventually, I bought and read this book aloud to my daughter, and she adores it! We must now read into our third or fourth reading of it, and her curiosity continues. That is not to detract from the age range recommendation. I think that an eight-year-old would respond well to this book. The fact that it actually appeals to a 5-year-old is proof of strong storytelling in this narrative, I think.
   Good book, good price
The large font, the pictures and the short chapters make it an easy read. We read homeschool and we read a book for enrichment every week... It will add it to our collection.
Perfect for biography reading lesson and report writing in 3rd/4th gr
I bought these for my 3rd grade classroom. They are great for the biography genre and then use for report writing. The three years I used them so far that the kids LOVED them. Easy for their reading levels, informative and people they have heard in their lives. They would read their own and then read something else that they had heard. Could have left these books for a 12 year and still read them.
Good book for an 8 year old
These books are loved. My son, who is 9, has been reading them for a little over a year now and this book is wonderful. I must say that this is not one of his favorites. He seems to love Jackie Robinson, Teddy Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, Robert E Lee, What is the World Series the best as a 8 and 9 year old? I also read them to him in the evenings and I really enjoy them as a 40 year old father. I learned so much from them as well. Sometimes I read them before or after my son, to have an educated discussion with him about the book's subject. I also get a lot out of them as well.
   Highly recommend
Book is excellent! My daughter was very interested in it. We bought this book as well as the books on Henry VIII, the Tower of London and Queen Victoria from the same series, in advance of a trip to the UK. My daughter particularly enjoyed this book on Elizabeth I and the one on Henry VIII. They published a lot of information, yet were written in the form of the story that kept my daughters'attention.
   Rich, accessible and fun!
My daughter was fascinated by the story and even interjected with minor comments.
Great Book about " Good Queen Bess"!!!!
I had no idea that she was related to Bloody Mary's book! Detailed! This book should be received.
