Book Overview

One day in 1882, Thomas Edison flipped a switch that lit up lower Manhattan with incandescent light and changed the way people live ever after. The electric light bulb was only one of thousands of Edison's inventions, which include the phonograph and the kinetoscope, an early precursor to the movie camera. As a boy, observing a robin catch a worm and then take flight, he fed a playmate a mixture of worms and water to see if she could fly Here's an accessible, appealing biography with 100 black-and-white illustrations.

Perfect for biography reading lesson and report writing in 3rd/4th gr
The third-grade teacher gave them to her students for Christmas. Great for the biography genre and then to use for report writing, Morgenthau said. The three years I've used them, I'm not ashamed. Easy for their reading levels, informative and people they have heard of in their lives, it's just that. Had they not left these books out, they would have been reading them.

I like this "Who Was" series for quick
I've enjoyed this series of biographies, but sometimes they are just too sketchy. Thomas Alva Edison's life story is also a popular subject today.
