From the world-renowned sommelier Aldo Sohm, a dynamic, essential wine guide for a new generation
Aldo Sohm is one of the most respected and widely lauded sommeliers in the world. He's worked with celebrated chef Eric Ripert as wine director of three-Michelin-starred Le Bernardin for over a decade, yet his philosophy and approach to wine is much more casual. Aldo's debut book, Wine Simple, is full of confidence-building infographics and illustrations, an unbeatable depth of knowledge, effusive encouragement, and, most important, strong opinions on wine so you can learn to form your own. Imbued with Aldo's insatiable passion and eagerness to teach others, Wine Simple is accessible, deeply educational, and lively and fun, both in voice and visuals.

As someone who just entered the world of wine, I found this book helpful. It gave me more wine vocabulary that I can use at the winery where I work. In all, I am happy with my purchase and I got through the book in about a solid morning of study.

A good primer for the wine neophyte.
Derived From Web , Mar 2, 2021
A neophyte primer for the basic wine enthusiast. Almost too basic in parts, in parts. Fluff has lots of fluff. But well worth reading and using from time to time as a reference guide. This book is just a start for those wine lovers who want to improve their knowledge and experiences with wine. It's like learning arithmetic. If you want to know more about mathematics, study algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus and so on. Like mathematics, you therefore advance your knowledge. Wine experts, read more books by wine experts. And more importantly, taste, taste.

We have so many wine books -- from Wine Folly to more educational encyclopedia type books. This makes the wine approachable and very fun to read. The comparisons and visualizations make it easy to think about certain wines. Love it!

Accessible and fun, just like wine should be

This book rekindled my love of the wine. I bought it on the recommendation of a coworker who worked for many years in the wine industry, who knows a lot about wine, but isn 't obnoxious about it. The author, too, knows a lot about wine, but isn't obnoxious about it. The book is practical. It teaches you the basics you need to know in order to enjoy the wine to its fullest. As it turns out, this is a pretty manageable amount of material to learn. For those who want to go deeper, he points you in the right direction and offers suggestions without forcing his tastes on you. It is a fun read and I often find myself referring back to it. If you're interested in learning more about wine but aren't sure where to start, I couldn t recommend this book more highly.

Not good enough
Derived From Web , Sep 27, 2020
I am a wine newbie and this book was a bit disappointing. It skims through some of the grape varieties and focuses on a limited set of countries. I regret purchasing it ; a better investment would be the wine foley book, even for newbies like me.

My bible. I love this book, a week in and I'm starting to get it.
Derived From Web , Aug 29, 2020
I looove this book, I would pay the cover price for it happily, and I know that I will soon give it as a gift. If you enjoy wine regularly, but don 't know how to make it or what you are seeking, this will help SO MUCH. It is easily designed and unbreakable and breaks it in simple ways. I am now taking it all night, every night. If you are more advanced, you will probably wish it had more varieties, more regions listed, but I think that even for an advanced beginner, it is great, as it seriously de-mystifies the whole thing. The author suggests reading back to front, but I enjoyed reading it from front to back and referencing the grapes and regions as-needed.

I think this is the first time I've ever written a review on Amazon despite being an Amazon customer for many years. This book is fantastic. It is beautiful, it is informative, it is understandable. Everything you could want to increase your game on wine with everything you could want to up your game on wine. Did I mention gorgeous? I'm tempted to buy a second copy just so I can rip some of the pages and frame some. Highly recommended in your life for any oenophile or designphile. Wonderful addition to any library of a wine drinker.
