A charmingly illustrated and inspiring book, Women in Art highlights the achievements and stories of 50 notable women in the arts--from well-known figures like painters Frida Kahlo and Georgia O'Keefe, to lesser-known names like 19th-century African American quilter Harriet Powers and Hopi-Tewa ceramic artist Nampeyo. Covering a wide array of artistic mediums, this fascinating collection also contains infographics about artistic movements throughout history, statistics about women's representation in museums, and notable works by women. Women in Art celebrates the success of the bold female creators who inspired the world and paved the way for the next generation of artists.

   Beautifully Illustrated!
I used this book as a resource for an online class I was teaching about women artists. It has some excellent biographical information and covers a wide range of artists, including many unknowns. I'm pleased to see Mary Blair and Ruth Asawa included, Garton said. Beautifully done, the illustrations by Pauley are also very impressive.

Creating our curriculum using these books!
She hasn't seen the struggle of women to make their place in the world. As wonderful as that is, I want her to understand that growth that has happened and that still needs to continue, he said. We're reading through a woman a day, doing some brief further study, we think. When we find someone that really sparks her interest, we tackle a deeper study of the woman, her life, her art, and her journey. I've read all the books by this author.

   A Winner!
I purchased this book for my grandchild as a way to stay connected during the ferry's trip. The book is beautiful and the illustrations are well done, Morgenthau said. Young readers will find this book very inspiring. Thanks for the great work! I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has children or grandchildren. It's a great way of engaging with kids about female artists, music said Blair.

Torn and not totally child appropriate
I bought this for my daughter as a Christmas present. We got her the book a few years ago, said Goodrich. It was returned to me before I could give it to her.

A broad sampling of women artists and their impact on the world.
My wife, an artist herself, loves this discussion of women artists and the power of their work. While art and artistry have enriched the world over centuries, it is essential that we continue to support those whose gifts not only add beauty to the world but create a shared, non-verbal way to communicate.

   Cute Book
My daughter is a huge fan of the Beatles, and I got this for her 13th birthday present. She says it's a nice way to see how women have influenced culture and art. She was very thankful when I gave it to her on Christmas, Mr. Bair said. Though I have not read the entire story, I can say from what I skimmed it is very cute. It's about the size of copier paper and a bit thinner than I anticipated. It's just that this was intended as a present for an aspiring artist.

   Pretty and informational!
This book was very attractive in person, and I recommend it to anyone. The book is a beautiful hardcover with gold inlay details on the cover. Tons of great content with a drawing of the woman on the left and the right hand page all about her with doodles around the page. It has really unique and original illustration that really stands out. I've read the book and found the cover to be very attractive.

   Beautiful & inspiring book
I've read all the books, and I still can't get over them. We love the story told in this book, the illustrator said. We have several others from the series and were very excited to see an artist version, said Blair.

   Inspiring and beautifully illustrated!
Television images could not be loaded. I would like to start this review by mentioning that this is the very first book by Rachel Ignotofsky. It will definitely not be our last. If you only bought one book this year, you may want to reconsider. Their biographies are written in an inviting and witty way, with a good balance of fact and story. Each page is designed to encourage and inspire the reader. Things that caught my eye: The book shows women of all different cultures, religions and backgrounds _ The illustrations are gorgeous and really make this book stand out _ Many extra resources and recommendations included in the back _ Makes a great gift for ages 6-9.
