Women of the Bible for Women of Today

I love this book really! It is a personal resource for versatile home devotional time OR a group Bible study. My favorite part is first day reading, where they take the story of the woman and retell it in a compelling, dramatic way that draws you into her experiences. After spending a week with them through this book, I feel much closer to many of the women of Biblical times.

I had already bought this devotional, but bought it as a gift for several of my friends. I have enjoyed going through it week by week and have learned a lot about women I have heard before as well as those I am less familiar with. Although there are some questions in every devotional that are a little cheesy, this one does a good job of asking relevant questions in general.

The Bible Study Group has used this book to study women of the Bible! It is a fantastic way to keep up with weekly meetings, as the stories are designed in a weekday timeframe. We're able to complete most of it within a two-hour session.

This book has changed my life so far. I know that sounds dramatic, but the Lord has used each of these women radically each week to teach me something, to encourage me in some way or to experience Him in a way that only the Most High can do. We serve a sinful God, who allows mighty people to play a part in his love story graciously. This book has been so good to slow down and really think about the lives, cultures, circumstances, struggles etc of each of these women and what a sacred role these undeserving women played but is what makes the Bible believable because this is who we are. Glory be to God!
