The moose plays the cello. The deer, violin. And it's ONE-two-three, ONE-two-three, time to begin Destined to be a read-aloud favorite, Woodland Dance is the newest board book from Sandra Boynton--a mystical, waltzing night-time counterpart to the upbeat, broad-daylight Barnyard Dance, the Boynton classic with over 4.7 million copies sold.
With a mesmerizing rhythm and rich forest colors, Woodland Dance unfolds: by the light of the moon, a lone fox on a mountaintop gives her bugle a long, steady blow--summoning hedgehogs and frogs, raccoons and ducks, bears and moose, beavers and squirrels. Then, in a moonlit glade, in pairs and in families, they dance all night long to the music of The Woodland Dance Trio (boar flute, deer violin, moose cello.) And as dawn breaks, the animals wander off to bed as the Trio plays one last piece to welcome the sun. Such tenderness Such a magical book to share with a magical childThe recommended reading level for Woodland Dance! is Preschool
Woodland Dance! is 24 pages long.
Another winner from Boynton

I made a forest quilt and a barn quilt for a friend who had twins. The books went well with the gift. She used words that flowed easily and that a parent wouldn't get tired of reading. The illustrations are very cute.

Boynton, at her best.

She draws animals so that we can read their minds, she understands. This is for snuggling and creating memories of reading. It is a treat we can give ourselves, too.

Great story, faulty production
Derived From Web , Nov 19, 2021
Another winner from Boynton is the story. The board book's quality is poor. I pulled it out from the box and read it, but several pages were split along the edge as if there wasn't enough glue between the layers. You know it won't last long in a toddler's hands if my dexterous adult digits are almost ripping it apart. I bought multiple to give as gifts, but they have the same flaws. I won't mess with a returnexchange, but I am disappointed that this one won't stand the test of time no matter how much we love the story.

Atmospheric, but not as engaging as "Barnyard Dance"
Derived From Web , Nov 13, 2021
The book has more of a story line than the Barnyard Dance, but I don't think it spends enough time on the dance. They dance and they dance and they dance and they dance is an example of telling, not showing, and the tot on one's lap wants to turn the page instead of examining each couple. The author's earlier board books were more suited to an older and more thoughtful audience than this one.

Our grandson is a big fan of the Boynton books and this one was no exception. Board books are good for toddlers.

My littles loved this book!
Derived From Web , Oct 9, 2021
They all loved it when I read it to them in my preschool classes. The animation and rhyme is correct. This book is richer and more vibrant than any other book you have read. Adults enjoy it as much as the littles. Thank you for making a family favorite!

Great Boyton book
Derived From Web , Oct 1, 2021
As usual a sweet story. After I read the book to my 3 year old, she looked at it herself. This is great because her sitter doesn't read to her. It was added to the rest of our favorites.
