Book Overview

World War I: The Definitive Visual History is a comprehensive, authoritative, yet accessible guide to the people, politics, events, and lasting effects of World War I.

Perhaps the most complex, frightening, and destructive event in global history, the Second World War saw the heights of human courage and the depth of human degradation. World War I presents a complete overview of the war, including the rise of Hitler and the Nazi party, fascism, Pearl Harbor, Hiroshima, and the D-Day landings. This book also looks at the enduring effects of World War I during succeeding decades.

Expanded with an all-new guide to battlefield and memorial sites and repackaged to honor the 70th anniversary of the end of the war, World War I: The Definitive Visual History covers key military figures, pivotal battles, political profiles, and strategies, as well as features on everyday life on the Home Front as ordinary citizens did their best to aid the war effort. Gallery spreads feature collections of uniforms, weapons, and other equipment. Maps, timelines, and side panels offer an inviting variety of entry point to the huge wealth of information.

   Great collection to our library
It's hard to keep your hands off because everyone wants to look at it. Great collection of books, said Dr. Chester Floyd, director of the Friends of the Library. Thanks for the donation.

   You need this book
This is a great book to just sit down and read, said Dr. Goin. The pictures are great and the information is great, too. It's great to have a book out there that anyone can read.

It is ok. Nothing special, I was looking ...
It's ok, Mr. Dhaliwal said. I was looking for something more, one or two pages per topic book. hope the person I bought it for likes it.

   awful
It's hard to understand, many errors, repeating phases, grammatical and punctuation mistakes, reading this book was a waste of time.

This is a fabulous, informative book. It is thick and heavy.
A great book. He was a proud papa who served his country proudly. He died Sunday at age 82. I am very proud of his bravery, recipient of three purple hearts, said Goodrich. He entered the army at the age of 16 and left a man. We spent many hours talking about his experiences and the toll it took on his body. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

   Upside Down?
This book is beautiful and will provide hours of reading for my son. I'm an avid reader of all things WW1. Only a few days later, I received a letter from Amazon saying the entire book was printed upside down. It's a little embarrassing, but I thought it was just the jacket that was placed incorrectly, said the designer, who added: "No, it's the cover." It's great to have a unique copy as I gift it to my son.

   A great book
This book's ww2 cover from all aspects but failed to mention the Soviet invasion of indochina in 1945 which was one of the greatest reasons why the jeppnese surrendered.

   Great
I'm an English teacher and we do a research project on Japan and the US during World War II. Great resource! I have students in study hall who want to read it. Both enjoy the photos and writing combined, they said.
