Works well for some adult students.

I have always liked the Bastien chord approach to teaching the piano, but have often found the adult course to move a little too quickly for most students. Be aware that the first few pieces in the Level 2 book are actually easier than some of the pieces found at the end of the Level 1 book.

Older Beginner Piano Course

This is a good book for an older, teen-adult, who has had some piano lessons in the past. It is not advanced, but it is also not for someone who has never had any kind of music lessons. It is truly a book of level 2. Some of the pieces at the very end of the book are of the early intermediate level, but the beginning is pretty simple. It does not move too quickly, but does introduce many new keys and some theory. I ordered it for my granddaughters, who are teens and are finishing Level 1 materials.

Title is accurate... good resource for the 'older beginner'

I had always wanted to read some piano and learn enough music to have a basic understanding. I started the Bastien series and yielded results much faster than I expected. Some of the arrangements are a little different than I am used, but there is a nice variety of songs exercises from different musical genres. The lessons seem right to each other and the pace builds up the right way.
