A helpful addition
Derived From Web , Mar 10, 2021
There is an expansion to the dungeon masters guide. The occasional spell is covered in this book. It's a nice book to have on your shelf.

Bad packaging, great book
Derived From Web , Mar 4, 2021
You can get one of the best fifth edition supplements. It's sad that Amazon doesn't know how to package books, the cover had a few scratches and marks from the box, where it was face down without bubble wrap or even paper lining it.

D&D is great, more D&D is best
Derived From Web , Feb 15, 2021
The book is a great addition to the main sources, but some of the spells could be balanced better, that is a benefit to buying additional sources. The book is great for my players and helps a lot with giving more background information for character creation, it is my job to balance and I air on the side of more. Highly recommend!

Great book, poorly shipped by amazon.

This is an excellent addition to the game and has a lot of options for characters. The book was in a box. It was disappointing but not the books fault so there is no deductions for that.

Epic, must have for D&D players.
Derived From Web , Feb 18, 2020
This book is very cool. I love the DandD world. It's similar to the lord of the rings in a lot of ways, but more complex. I think it's a must own and read for DandD players.

Exactly what I expected, and at a great price.
Derived From Web , Feb 12, 2020
It was exactly what I was expecting and at a great price. Chances are you know what you're getting if you buy this. This shouldn't be your first stop if you want to start buying books. It has additional classes, spells, and optional rules that build on the core books. If you want to be the one running the game, start with the player's handbook and the dungeon master's guide. After you master the basics, come back for this book.

Helps Create Background Fast
Derived From Web , Jan 22, 2020
The background generator in the book worked great because my friends didn't want to come up with their own stories. It gives you a good place to start with your imagination.

An homage to AD&D (1st Ed.) and darn useful too!
Derived From Web , Nov 9, 2018
One of the things that I remember most about 1st Ed. The brand new, awesome dungeon master's guide came out in 1980. It was jam packed with everything you needed to run a campaign from random encounter matrices, to tables of colors, to random magical effects, to rules clarifications, etc. It was amazing. Xanather's Guide is the successor to 5th Ed. The book covers everything from random encounter tables to character background to how to handle rivals as well as addressing some rules issues. This is the one to buy if you are only going to buy one book for yourself or for your favorite character.

This book is vital for Adventurers league Season 8, and fails it so hard.
Derived From Web , Sep 7, 2018
This book was bought due to the changes in the league. You need to flip between the middle of the book and the back of the book for magic items rules in this book. This is incomplete as you need the dungeon masters book for the 4 pages detailing what items are in what loot tables. All free supplements tell you to consult the book. We need to get the scanned pages and post them on the wall where I do DandD so we don't have to drag around two more books.

I purchased these for friends coming out for a gaming ...
Derived From Web , Jul 18, 2018
I bought these for friends to play a game. I bought them a week ago. The books I bought were both misprinted, stopping at page 162 and then repeating pages on page 129, which meant they were missing over 30 pages of content. I don't have the option to return them via Amazon anymore, and I'm starting to think that they might be fake for the same problem as in 2 books.
