MAN About Town

In 2002, the world changes forever. Every man, every boy, every mammal with a Y chromosome everywhere on Earth suddenly collapses and dies. With the loss of nearly half the planet's population, the gears of society grind to a halt, and a world of women are left to pick up the pieces and try to keep civilization from collapsing entirely.

The gendercide, however, is not absolutely complete. For some unknown reason, one young man named Yorick Brown and his pet male monkey, Ampersand, are spared. Overnight, this anonymous twentysomething becomes the most important person on the planet -- the key, it is hoped, to unlocking the secret of the mysterious sex-specific plague.

For Yorick himself, the most important person on the planet has been agonizingly out of reach. But now, after three long years and 10,000 arduous miles, the last man is closing in on the truth about his lost fianc e -- and the shocking facts behind his own survival.

Collects issues #37-48.

   Watch out for the monkeys.
Several issues of this volume are given to character backstories and sets the Big Bad villains for the final act. The thing to like about this volume is how closely written its plot is. In these 12 issues, things happen very quickly, and they change the game for the whole world. The character backstories are also quite good, ratcheting the development in what was already one of the best character '' comics I've ever read. The characters seem to be incompetent because the plot demands it. Fortunately, I don 't think that this should carry over to the last volume. Here's hoping that this series ends on a high note.

One of the Greatest Graphic Novels of All Time
This is one of the greatest series I ever read in my life. The story is about a man named Yorick and how he is the only males to survive after something kills all the men in the world at the same time. Yorick and his monkey set out on a journey to find out what happened to all the men and get to Australia where his girlfriend, Beth, may still be waiting for him. The story is gripping, intense, funny and tragic.

It is fantastic. It has action
This series is very much appreciated. A post apocalyptic world features a man, a man left alone in a world full of women, and he must find his fiancee or die trying.

One of the best comic series still going strong.
It is great, it means meaning. Has a couple of twists and just-smarter moments. After this one, you 'll probably want to buy the 5th and final book.

Social commentary a la science fiction
I enjoyed reading this novel only to be surprised by the intertwining stories of romance and the very implausible social commentary of the key characters. Otherwise, a great novel with an interesting plot!

   Just gets better and better
Can 't wait to finish this series. It is one of the best graphic novels I have ever read. Great characters, great, smart, totally original, funny, smart and everything. I don 't want it to end, highly recommend.

   This is a must read!
If you think that comic books can not tell a concise story, then this is a must read. If you are into SHTF stories from alternate perspectives, this is a must read. If you want to see an adventure about a boy and his monkey, then this is a must read.

   Getting somewhat tiresome
This latest installment is the most dijointed yet, it flies continually, and if your interest in this seemingly neverending yarn is dwindling, you have to keep reminding yourself to where you are in the story. I get the idea that this guy draws this out so we will keep buying volume after volume. It is like a movie where the first one is a surprise hit and they keep producing sequels to make a buck...........................................................................................................I am not likely to shell my hard earned money on this story. I really don 't care how it ends.

Great Concept and Well Executed Story
Loved the concept of this world of no men and what women would do and how society would move forward. The travels and adventures with Dr. Mann, Yorick and Agent 555 were wonderful and character development made for a wonderful read.
