Book Overview

Find hope even in these dark times with this rediscovered masterpiece, a companion to his international bestseller Man's Search for Meaning.

Eleven months after he was liberated from the Nazi concentration camps, Viktor E. Frankl held a series of public lectures in Vienna. The psychiatrist, who would soon become world famous, explained his central thoughts on meaning, resilience, and the importance of embracing life even in the face of great adversity.

Published here for the very first time in English, Frankl's words resonate as strongly today--as the world faces a coronavirus pandemic, social isolation, and great economic uncertainty--as they did in 1946. He offers an insightful exploration of the maxim Live as if you were living for the second time, and he unfolds his basic conviction that every crisis contains opportunity. Despite the unspeakable horrors of the camps, Frankl learned from the strength of his fellow inmates that it is always possible to say yes to life--a profound and timeless lesson for us all.

   very difficult to read
Looking for something to help me with this terrible situation, but due to the decade in which it was written and possibly the translator just resulted in a stiff and difficult read.

So appropriate in light of today's big problems
There is a long and interesting intro, and the book is typeset to take up as much space as possible, he said. I am a book designer, and I know what I'm talking about. What's more, Mr. Rule told the judge, "If you want to play Russian roulette, you need to be at the top of the game." Even though I'm not a huge fan of the book, I livestreamed my reading of the pages and comments. I don't think I had any listeners, Mr. Dhaliwal said. Now, I am not sure I even finished it. It's just that we have to return it again and again."

   Beautifully written book
I recommend this book to anyone. I'm very pleased with the work of Viktor Frankl. The introduction was thorough and helpful, Morgenthau said. Overall, I would recommend it to others. I'm rereading your search.

   My 1st 5 Star rating - and I read a lot!
It's amazing how relevant this book is today. As I read the third lecture, the events and behaviour of the world focused on the American political struggle in the USA and particularly the desire to hold a race guilty for past immorality.

   More profound words
Only a few of his words are known. Robbins' insights apply to all of us.

   So very inspiring
Three lectures by Frankl were given less than a year after he was sent to death camp. The introduction by Daniel Goleman is also a gem and he paints the perfect context for the book. It's not a lengthy book, but there's a whole lot to chew on.

Highly recommend as a companion to Frankl's "Man's Search For Meaning."

   Life
To the best of my ability, I will learn to live, to a purpose of meaning. I hope you find your purpose and keep fighting, Raymond said. Good stuff, Paul.

This book is concise, yet packed with meaning!
I've read all the books, but this was by far the best. This book is a great read for gaining perspective in the midst of a pandemic.
