Book Overview

The thrilling new novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling authors of An Anonymous Girl and The Wife Between Us.

Shay Miller has three strikes against her: no job, no apartment, no love in her life. But when she witnesses a perfectly normal looking young woman about her age make the chilling decision to leap in front of an ongoing subway train, Shay realizes she could end up in the same spiral. She is intrigued by a group of women who seem to have it all together, and they invite her with the promise: You are not alone. Why not align herself with the glamorous and seductive Moore sisters, Cassandra and Jane? They seem to have beaten back their demons, and made a life on their own terms--a life most people can only ever envy. They are everything Shay aspires to be, and they seem to have the keys to getting exactly what they want.

As Shay is pulled deeper and deeper under the spell of the Moore sisters, she finds her life getting better and better. But what price does she have to pay? What do Cassandra and Jane want from her? And what secrets do they, and Shay, have that will come to a deadly confrontation?

You are not alone: Is it a promise? Or a threat?

   A Disappointing Read
This is the third book I have read by this writing team. Their writing is linear and you can easily glide through it, but like the anonymous girl it is a smooth story about the bullying of an unsuspecting woman victim. There are only 7 or 8 characters to keep track of, but are so indistinguishable that I had to keep reminding myself who each was. Finally, only one twist appeared and although I didn 't see it coming, I also didn 't care much. This writing team seems to use a formula approach, which has already become predictably shallow.
Let me preface this by saying that I have read both Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen's previous books, The Wife Between Us and An Anonymous Girl, so that I went into this book with middle expectations. Unfortunately, this book did not work for me. I found the whole plot to be pretty far-fetched, and there were really no surprises or twists on the way. I have read a lot of thrillers and this book just overwhelmed me. But if you are someone who does not read a lot of these thriller books, you will probably find this one more enjoyable than I did. I found myself feeling excited when I was getting towards the end of this book, because it meant that I could soon start reading a new book...
Dont waste your time. Its silly
I expected something phenomenal with all the reviews I saw. It was silly, completely contrived and unbelievable. Only a ridiculous scenario. I couldn t wait to finish it just and get it off my desk. Its written for a 10-year-old ( i.e. Dont, we are totally in the Dont game.
   Another great read
Holy! I don 't even know where to go or what to say about this book! There is really no other way to explain it. The next minute, I wanted to shake her and tell her to run. I have trusted myself that no one... Shay is sometimes funny, even at times. This book is written in a pure Hendricks and Pekkanen fashion. Even if you were not a fan of their previously written books, I think this is the one for you. While I figured some things out and some things were a little over the top, this book was definitely worth the read. Some say it's their best yet. I can 't decide which of their books is my favorite, but this is definitely a great book!
