Breath of fresh air

I am making my way through this book so slowly because I don 't want to be done with it. The only other book I did with Michelle Obama was Becoming. They might become my favorite contemporary poet. Because they have so many spoken word poems online, it is really easy to hear their voice, esp at the twist points, which are my favorite. You think they're going one way and then there's a twist.

Andrea gave me chills as always. J'y pense que, it is very special that Andrea Gibson actually reads in this audio - recording of her beautiful poetry. I've felt memorized by the power of Andrea's voice and words. I highly recommend introducing this audio book during marathon training on a run, listening to this book with audio in a college syllabus, including this book with audio in a formal event, or reading and listening anytime!

Heartbreaking and hopeful - a perfect collection of poetry

Since I discovered them, I have loved, since I learned first about Andrea Gibson's work, but this collection is probably my favorite. I blew through the book in a single day, trying to enjoy each poem, but also for the next. It is a beautiful, heartbreaking and hopeful collection, and I will be reading this collection again and again without a doubt. I enjoyed every poem but my favorite poem in particular is probably my absolute favorite poem of all time now.

I have had the pleasure of listening to this poet present their words in person. I have ordered the book and planned to consume it in a single sitting. As if it were a box of artisanal hand-crafted precious chocolates, carried home from France on the plane. Rich : This poetry is an invitation to not only enjoy the words, but also to savor the levels of life experiences they address. I still don 't really understand Prince, but the poem about him makes me want to! They 'll take you places. After second thought, this collection of poems might be some better than dark chocolate truffles... When I read them, I 'll get to read them again. And then again.

Rich with meaning, meant to be savored

After every single poem, I had to pause and sometimes walk away from the book. They made me think, feel and experience things in a new way. Gibson's poems are packed with experience, not opinion, what makes them so relatable. They speak for their lives and what they have been through despite hardship with soul-deep hope, and it made me reflect and listen. Every poem was as if I had spoken to the author about their life in person. Gibson's poetry is meant to be rushed, not savored. Buy it now! It is slowly read.
