Book Overview

The American Heart Association recommends no more than two-thirds of a teaspoon of salt per day, but it's easy to exceed that in just one meal. For anyone with hypertension, heart disease, or diabetes--and the millions of Americans whose high salt intake puts them at risk of developing these conditions--You Won't Believe It's Salt-Freeoffers 125 delicious no-salt recipes that take family dinners from monotonous to mouth-watering. Culinary expert Robyn Webb reveals her secret: simple spice blends that anyone can buy or make at home, plus recipes that use exotic aromatics like kaffir lime leaves and star anise to create bold, beautiful flavors. From Chipotle Chicken to Herbs de Provence Squash, there is something for everyone's palate. Once you experiment beyond the salt shaker, your health will improve and your cooking will too.

Sister's hand book for salt free diet
This book has helped my sister with her no-salt diet. Since February she has been on a salt free diet for congestive heart failure. She loves it! She does add more vegetables to some recipes and they are great. It has helped us to enjoy a salt-free diet.

You won't believe its salt free
While many people cut back on salt, we had to go free of salt virtually due to my husband's health. It gets really boring to eat the same things week after week, so we were glad to find this cookbook. So much thanks!

   Not worth it
Weird - Food!! The recipes were from the wall foods and many of the spices you can not find in stores, you have to order. And then mix a batch, what do you use it for?

   Salt free--taste good
The book I received had some interesting recipes that I must try. Today I received a book so have not yet made anything.

Can’t wait to try the recipes!
Great recipes for spice blends and lots of low sodium recipes for snacks, dinners, breakfast, etc. Can 't wait to try them. The only drawback is that there are no pictures.

   Just ok
In big letters it says salt free, but most recipes have salt in them. There are a few salt freebies, but I could have looked up in Betty Crocker and cut myself on salt.

   You Shouldn't Believe It's Salt-Free
I had high hopes for this cook book, because I have others by Webb who are excellent. But the title of this is misleading. In some of these recipes, sodium is a lot of. For example, Mango Cashew chicken bundles calls for low-sodium soy sauce, which generally has more than 300 mg per teaspoon of sodium! The reliance on Mrs. is also disappointing. Organic products are not Dash. The good points of this book are that the recipes are creative and lean towards international cuisine. The desserts look very good and there is a appendix of the menu.

   Moderately OK
However, the book is essentially recommending and using products from Dash in most recipes. Due to IC, I can not eat products of Dash, and most of the products have onion in them in some form. Fortunately, on the Eat & Not list, Migraine is not on the list. The book is well arranged and gives good tips on herbs, which I already grow. Wanted a little more support without Dash.
