At Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, he earned a double master's degree in divinity and marriage and family counseling. He graduated from Northcentral University with a doctorate in psychology and is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. He and his wife Lisa, as well as their two children Hadassah and Jubal, live in Colorado Springs.
