Deepa Iyer, a prominent racial justice activist, was the executive director of South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT) for a decade, concentrating on community building in post-9/11 America. She is a professor at the University of Maryland's Asian American Studies Program. She is a Silver Spring, Maryland resident.
